However, if a program wants a file that's on an external drive, you may need to navigate to the /run/media/ folder manually.) (Coincidentally, Linux file browsers usually know to check this folder for external drives, and so you usually won't have to navigate here manually - usually there are shortcuts on the left side to jump directly into any connected external drives. For example, connecting a USB drive formatted with the name "Lexar" would create a folder allowing you to access the drive at /run/media//Lexar.
